Son of John Joseph Long and Clare Patricia Coogan.
John Patrick Long died in Florida on 8 May 2020, at the age of 68, so he was born in 1951 or 1952. He was the son of the late State Representative John J. Long and Clare (Coogan) Long. [1]
He graduated from Bishop Connolly High School, went on to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he was president of his freshman class, and studied law at New England Law School. He practiced law in Fall River for more than forty years, and was also an insurance broker at the family firm, Long and Parent Insurance. [1]
He served on the board of Bristol Community College and was chairman of the board of the Thomas Chew Memorial Boys and Girls Club. An Eagle Scout, he worked as a young man as a lifeguard at Horseneck Beach and a counselor at Camp Noquochoke. [1]
