What the Records Show

Eleanor Louise Wall was the daughter of Herbert Miller Wall and Catherine Louise Thornton, and the family called her "Babs". [1] [3] [5] [6] She grew up in Newton, Massachusetts: the 1930 census found her there at age 3, and the 1940 census at 13, in the same house as in 1935. [1] [2] She married Francis Swift Perry, and they were married for 64 years. [3] She died in 2013. [3]

Family memory

She worked at the New Bedford Whaling Museum and researched the family's whaling connections. [5] After the family's years in Houston, Texas, she and Francis settled in Framingham, Massachusetts, near her sisters; their grandson remembers the in-ground pool in the back yard. [6] Later they lived in Westport, Massachusetts, then South Yarmouth. [6]

Open questions

  • Her birth: FamilySearch's tree gives 1926 at Newton; her census ages point to 1926 or 1927. [1] [2] [4] No birth record has been read.
  • Her death: the family's documents give 2013, and the family gives the day as 11 May; no death record or obituary has been read yet. [3]
