What the Records Show
Margaret M. Gumbleton married Charles F. Perry at New Bedford on 23 November 1881; the record names her parents as Edmund and Margaret. [1] In 1900 the family lived at 15 Campbell Street, New Bedford. The census gives her birth as October 1861 and her parents' birthplace as Ireland, and records her as the mother of six children, five of them living. [2] Her son Charles F. Perry Jr., the Colonel, was born on 23 June 1895; both his birth record and his 1920 marriage record name his mother as Margaret Gumbleton. [3] [4] After her husband's death in 1935 she lived as his widow at 307 Lexington Street, Auburndale, in Newton. [5] She died in 1943 and is buried with her husband and their daughter Harriet M. Perry in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Bedford. [6]
