What the tradition claimed
The Mayflower page said Degory Priest's ancestry connects to Sir Hugh Prust of Hartland, following FamilySearch's tree, which gives Hugh Prust as one of two sets of parents for Degory.
Where the chain breaks
No record names Degory Priest's parents. The only record put forward, the christening of a Digory Prust at Hartland on 11 August 1582, names his father as Peter Prust, not Hugh, and Mayflower Families Through Five Generations (vol. 8) does not prove that Digory was the Mayflower passenger. The chain breaks at Degory: he is a proven ancestor; no one above him is.
